Duration of B Visas
It’s important to note the difference between visa validity, which is the time frame your visa is issued for, and visa duration, which is the time you are allowed to stay in the U.S. For example, if your B1 B2 visa is valid for ten years, you can travel to the U.S. multiple times within those years but can stay for up to 6 months each time.
Extensions for B1 B2 Visas

What is ESTA?
ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) screens travelers’ eligibility for visa-free travel under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). Initiated post 9/11, an ESTA approval is sufficient for travel to the U.S. under the VWP. Applications should be made at least 72 hours before your trip. ESTA isn’t a substitute for a visa. Admission to the U.S. is ultimately decided by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers. No ESTA is needed if entering the U.S. from Canada or Mexico by land. An ESTA is valid for two years or until your passport expires. You can stay in the U.S. for up to 90 days per visit.
